Is it Possible to get off the ship once you’ve boarded?

*It is possible to get off the ship and back into Sydney if you have to*

Last year on a cruise on Ovation to South Pacific.

Hubby dropped the kids, myself and our luggage to the terminal and then parked at the Opera House. I was carrying my phone in my hand and a backpack and once hubby met back up with us, we boarded and went to the Windjammer for lunch.

I found food for the kids, myself, and a table, finally sat down and went to get my medication from my handbag to realise my handbag was nowhere to be seen!

🤢 I instantly felt sick.

I was glad I at least still had my phone. So I went to guest services to ask if they could contact the terminal to see if I’d left it somewhere. They said nothing had been turned in.

I then begged to get off the ship to check in our car. They finally agreed to let me off but told me to explicitly tell border force that I had medication in my bag - which was true - but a good thing to remember if you are ever in this position.

A terminal staff member took me back past security, and then border force. Who said I wasn’t allowed to leave unless I left my passport. I wasn’t sure why they needed that, but I agreed anyway.

The terminal staff member took me to the doors and said “ask for Paul when you get back and be as quick as you can”.

It was 32 degrees and I power walked to the opera house carpark, went down to lowest level of the carpark, opened the car and lo and behold my handbag 🙌.

I was so relieved - and sweaty 🤣.

Then powerwalked back. Got to the terminal.

Asked for Paul…Paul was on a break 🤦‍♀️.

They finally tracked him down and he took me back through border force and security and back to the ship.

It was a very stressful 2 hour (it took awhile a guest services to get the approval) ordeal. My Fitbit said my heart rate was sky high lol but I did manage to snap a nice pic on my way back 😮‍💨
